In honor of today's US holiday, I want to challenge all t(h)inkers to reflect on those things we may take for granted. After reading great posts from fellow bloggers like Tim Bursch, Mark Ley, and Mike Monty, it is evident that there is much to be thankful for (and many ways to give thanks).
Here are three things to be thankful for (as an entrepreneur) that may not have come up in your laundry list of thanks:
1. Imagination- One person can make a difference. Be thankful for the fact that dreaming big is not just possible, but encouraged. Be thankful the future you create for yourself is limited only by what you think you can accomplish.
2. Ability- To quote Thomas Friedman, "The world is flat". Once you have dreamed big, it's time to swing for the fences. The sheer volume of tools available can help anyone and everyone accomplish anything and everything. Be thankful that if you have an idea to put into action, the opportunity, the resources, and the tools to get it accomplished are out there and waiting for you.
3. Perseverance- Finally, to quote Confucius, "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." Be thankful that you are free to pursue your goals at whatever pace you wish for as long as you choose.
On a personal note, it has been one roller coaster of a year and I have so much to be thankful for. Here are just a few of the stand-outs. I am thankful:
- I was laid off from a job I truly hated and found one I truly love.
- I have a wife that loves me and always supports whatever entrepreneurial project I am working on (No matter how crazy it may be).
- I have a family that knows exactly how to help (even though they're never asked).
- And for you. Thank you for being a part of the think (here) community.
What are you grateful for?
