What Apple's 'iPad' Means for Entrepreneurs

Apples revolutionary new device, schedule to drop in just two short months, will change two major things for entrepreneurs:

1. Content & Product Creation-  The most obvious impact this has for entrepreneurs is that there is (yet) another chance to cash in on the (as apple put it) 'gold rush' for apps and other content.  Whether or not the market for these apps and other products proves as lucrative as the original app store for the iPhone (that is now over 100K apps deep) is up for debate, but the 60-90 day window is just enough time for an extremely focused entrepreneur, team, or company to take a stab at it.  This includes creation of apps, peripherals, and accessories.  The 'gold rush' is on... will you take advantage of it?

2. Lifestyle Design- The other thing to consider is how, as an entrepreneur, the iPad could be utilized to maximize efficiency, productivity, and (dare I say) creativity.  How?  In particular, how is the iPad going to serve entrepreneurs better than netbooks, laptops, or any other combination of tools?

Efficiency-   A laptop is only as mobile as its power source.  More battery life in the iPad (10 hours Active/ 1 Month Standby) means you are mobile for longer.

Productivity- The calendar, the email client, and the screen size itself will all play significant roles in how entrepreneurs (especially the 'mobile nomads') stay on top of their business.  Custom built apps maximize the screen real estate, and the big screen means less scrolling, resizing, and squinting (as compared to a smart phone).

Creativity- Here is the kicker.  If you are working on a problem/project and seem to hit a wall two common suggestions are: Change your routine (read: work somewhere else) and change the medium you are working on (i.e.- write with crayons, on napkins, etc.).  iPad kills both birds with one stone.

Do you see the iPad as a useful tool for entrepreneurs, or is it just a 'big ipod touch'?  Do you plan on getting one?  How do you plan on using it, and as Samantha asked: How [do you think] iPad will change the way we create + write on the web?  Post a comment and get in on the discussion.
